Okäi’s September Favourites

Cee-Lo „Fuck You“ (Video)

Cee-Lo is back. Good. Very good. I liked „Georgia“ as well, but this is going to be a classic.

I’ve not finally decided over Chiddy Bang yet. I have „Kids“ in my playlist but never played it, it has its moments but in the end.. well, i don’t know. This one has the classic Neptunes-summer-joint-touch, not surprisingly because Pharrell’s on the co-producto.

Chromeo „Don’t Turn The Lights On (Aeroplane Rmx)“ (160kbps via XLR8R)

Chromeo just continue where they left off, which I find very pleasant. Their new LP „Business Casual“ has some real good gems on it. This is one of the best, single too, all official versions I know (OG Mix, Christian Martin, this) are really good. But the Aeroplane take is off the hook. Play it loud.

Dam Funk „Hood Pass Intact (Rmx) feat. MC Eiht“ (192 kbps via RCRDLBL)

Dam-Funk is the overlord of Spaced-Out-Funk-Beats. „Hood Pass Intact“ with its „Boounce To The Ounce“-feel is already a classic. Hearing MC Eiht on this remix is pure 90′s West Coast reminiscing. What happened to Sa-ra?

Dirty Money „Loving You No More feat. Drake“ (192 kbps via NahRight)

Tasty R&B-joint, perfectly made for Drake.

Gichy Dan’s Beachwood No. 9 „On A Day Like Today (Todd Terje Edit)“ (Beatport)

Classic break. This song is perfect relaxation with just the right deepness. Todd Terje adds and lengths and twists it perfectly – always wanted a good edit, glad i got now.

Kelis „Acapella (Ming Rmx) feat. Chiddy Bang“ (Soundcloud)

Chiddy Bang twice in one chart? So there has to be something with these guys. I don’t like the housy original mix too much, in contrast to these pimped up old school drums.

Mark Ronson „Loose It In The End feat. Ghostface Killah“ (192kbps)

Ronson and Ghost are always a good combination. Nice uptempo joint.

Cop the Album. This man is the incarnation of crispyness, Dam Funk better watches out. Good to hear Reggie B. on the mic again.

The Roots & John Legend „Our Generation (J. Period Rmx) feat. Pete Rock & CL Smooth“ (192 kpbps via 2dopeboyz)

Good remake. And good news: Roots and John Legend do a collab album. How nice is that. Decent work from J. Period to put Pete & CL on the track who sampled the original track for the classic „Straighten Out“.

Skillz „Regular Guy“ (192kbps via NahRight)

Skillz in the buidling still doing his thing. Keep on rocking, man. And come visit us with Jazzy Jeff again.

Slum Village „Dance feat. Ab“ (iTunes)

That’s how I like and love Slum Village. Crisp beats, thick bass, tight rhymes and soulfulness galore.

Spragga Benz „Shotta Culture“ (Video)

My man Dynamite put me on that one. Salaam Remi on production, love this guy’s beats.
